Vintage poseable doll ads

From Ariadne craftmagazine, January 1975

Apparently these last dolls came with variations in garden-, bath-, hippie- and bedtime- clothing.
I hope to find the ad of the Pieter and Nel dolls as Hippies one day.
Back in 1973 you could order the dolls, with the wooden shoes and the whole collection of clothing patterns to sew, crochet and knit the outfits yourself!

Won't leave the house

Tiger made friends. More vintage finds that won't get listed anytime soon. (like, ever!)
I know its not christmas time yet. Its all part of my "be-prepared-to-have-a-vintage-christmas plan".

Got to start early!

For those of you also wanting to start preparing for a vintage christmas: there are some cute ornaments up for sale in the Christmas section of my shop!

Tiger will stay

I went back and forth for a couple of minutes trying to decide. My love knew it right away.

This tiger won't be for sale.
It is decided. Tiger will stay.

Doll Too Cute

Random things of the day:

* Got a great deal on this adorable Korean vintage doll. I love her. Wish i had a whole collection. Then again, maybe she is the start of a collection?
* My parents are visiting new york. Hadn't seen them in almost a year. So we're having fun.
* I'm working on a design for an IGoogle theme. Hold on, soon you can add your own ismoyo theme to your igoogle pages!
* Added a left column to my blog. If this is annoying or messing up pages, let me know!
* I got a lot of great vintage items and some Japanese craft books that i'm photographing to put up in my etsy shop.
* And there are a couple of new vintage image magnet sets waiting to be listed.
* In need of some 5x8 poly zip bags. Wasn't paying attention and bought 4x7's the other day.
* Confession: i dropped my metrocard in the toilet the other day. (before peeing!) it still works. ;)

Back to the 80's

I found the Rainbow Brite children's book at a local Goodwill thrift shop. It's filled with adorable drawings. And a small appearance by Lucky Sprite, my green childhood friend. Even though his nose looks like he has a bad cold, i still love him as much as i did when i was a little girl.

Paper doll house project 2007

My dear online friend Babelfish is doing a great job organizing the Doll House Project.
Due to my overseas move i haven't had much time before to work on it. But i'm getting there. Wasn't expecting to be moving so much in my first two months here. (moved apartments again this week! ohoh, and i'm not a moving person at all)

but i've got the feeling i'm in a good place now, where for now i can get things up to speed again. i'm so behind on so many things. and i hate it to keep people waiting.
But about the dollhouse project. It is supposed to be done by the end of this month. I will have it done by then. That's my plan at least. Get it send out first week after. Risa had her room done way in advance. You go girl! You can see her wonderful dressingroom on flickr.
I won't be able to get all crafty crazy with this project unfortunately, but i'm making a digital collage mixed with illustration in Ismoyo style. So i'm hoping to be able to send out a vintage/cute bedroom when i'm done!

Pretty cardgame pictures

i can't remember when it was last that i actually sat down and played any card game at all.
doesn't take away from the fact i do love pretty cards.
especially vintage ones with lovely illustrations on them.
I found these in a whole set on my Queensday thrift hunt.
Bought them from a sweet lady with a heart for vintage.

New retro doll and sooooo nervous

One of my greatest Queensday thrift finds was this new addition to my retro doll collection. I think she is so lovely holding her little puppy!
She is making new friends already.

Why the nervous part?
Tomorrow is the big day in regard to my visa application. Got to go to the consulate for my final interview! Oooh, so many butterflies in my stomach. Already did my yoga excersices but still an overload of adrenaline. Just one more day and i will know if i can really start packing.

Queensday thrifting

Yesterday the country was celebrating Queensday and i had such a lovely lovely time!! (No clue what queensday is?)
My feet are still hurting from all the walking i did.
This was the first time since years that i didn't go into the city center and party all day, i just wasn't feeling the large crowds. I spent the morning treasure hunting the flea markets in the South of the city and got some wonderful thrift finds. In the afternoon i went outside the city to celebrate with my family and i had so much fun with them, esp with my cousin and her two cute little daughters (ponyriding!). And when the flea market kinda ended, there were lots of people who didn't want to take their non-sold items back home and left them there in the park. And what do you know, i found some cute ceramic pieces and a stack of great vintage craft books! For free! Woohoo!

I will take pictures of my thrift scores tomorrow. In the meanwhile, you can check the Queensday pictures and story from last year.

Be friends and play nice

Introducing 3 of my small vintage vinyl dolls from my doll collection.
I love the way they look so similar, but so different at the same time with their different facial expressions. So happy. Or so sad.
Don't you just love those adorable freckles? (as far as you can see those on the picture)

The curly one on the left had a signature H.K. on the bottom. My first thought was that that indicated Hong Kong. But why would it? Wouldn't it then say "Hong Kong" instead? It might as well be the makers name. It's a vintage mystery.
The other two are marked as made by Iwai Industrial in 1971 in Korea.

Sosa needs some clothes!

Wintertime and Sosa is getting cold without some cute clothes!

Sosa is part of my late 60's, early 70's doll collection.
Most of the dolls are small, like 4 inches or so, but Sosa is like 10 inches tall. She looks at you with her sweet eyes and is always very play full. I'm not sure if anyone ever did gave her clothes to wear, but i know i will have to. Can't leave her standing there being naked all the time!

If you happen to know a great website with patterns for making dolls clothing, let me know. I might be able to alter some patterns to fit Sosa's body type.

Pretty doll outfits

I found this wonderful small booklet full of sweet pictures and patterns for dolls clothing. It's in Dutch, by the French company 3 Suisses.
Too bad I don't knit or crochet. (not counting the basic projects I did as a little kid)
Nevertheless, the pictures are too great not to share.

Found treasure: Sylvanian Families Poster

A good cleaning, turning your home upside down can provide some surprises.
In the corner of my bedroom, behind my tv table i found a cardboard tube, you know the ones you use to send posters through the mail. Didn't remember it being there, let alone what would be in it.
I found this adorable French 'Sylvanian Families' poster inside!
Now i remember!
I used to have the little Sylvanian dolls as a young girl!
My French isn't too good, but it says something like:
"We are the Sylvanian Families. Do you want to be our friend?" I don't know what it says exactly on the bottom.
Any French speakers who can translate?
