Things i love today - Windowshopping

It's been awhile since i made my last "things i love today" list. I think it's time to give it new life, a new direction.

Don't we all love to windowshop? The Etsy finds i love today all have a needlefelted theme. I haven't done much needlefelting myself lately, but i definitely feel inspired looking at these!

1. Felted Pincushion by Feltmates - 2. Cheep the Baby Chick by BeneathTheRowanTree - 3. Bird on a Branch Pillow by katatomic - 4. Elliot the Elephant by MousePants - 5. Wool Acorns by truLuxe

If i can keep it up, i want to make this a weekly thing, Windowshop Wednesday. Let's see what i can find for next week!

Needle Felted "Cookie" Coasters

Promised to show these. When i was feeling sick last week i discovered that needlefelting is a craft that is perfect when you do want to be productive but don't have the concentration to do complicated tasks. I was planning on making white felted coasters, but while doing the white layer, i thought of the fact that when you would use the coasters, there would be a big chance that white coasters would be stained with the first coffee cup you put on it... That's how the brown top layer came about. In the end i really like the two colors, they remind me of cookies! I really did want something white on the top, so i decided to do an embroidered border, using a simple chain stitch.

I need to make two more, it would be rude to have people over and just me and my Love having coasters to use, please just hold your cups in your hand... no can't do.
If you like these cookie coasters i will make how to photos and write up a tutorial. Anyone interested?

Etsy Front Page!

Yesterday morning i was pleasantly surprised by a bunch of new hearts on Etsy. What was going on? Then i noticed one of my needle felted cupcake cuties had a lot of new fans too. It must have been on the front page and i missed it! But luckily there is the wonderful Flickr Pool where they collect Etsy Front Page screenshots. Voila!

There was no name listed as curator of this collection of items, so i guess it was one of the Etsy admins who picked my cutie. Thank you so very much. I'm honored and it was a fun rush feeling!

Where is the snow?

NY is really getting cold. I'm waiting for the snow!
What is more fitting than a 3.5" felted snowman? Not much needle felting this time, i experimented with wet felting. I didn't actually follow any 'rules' i was more focused how i wanted it to look in the end, than that i was thinking about how to get there. Even with that in mind, i do think Mr. Snowman turned out pretty cute.

So cozy

How adorable are these felted teacup cozies? I would love to drink my tea in the morning with a soft happy face keeping my cup warm. (from one of my Japanese craft books)

Deer Felting

I haven't forgotten about the joys of needle felting. I'm loving the journey of figuring out what i can do with it. For this little deer i added two tiny black beads for her eyes and a white ribbon flower to give her some extra style! Besides that she's 100% wool felted. She's 3" high, like 7,5 cm.

Perfect box

Little things can make me happy. Little boxes in this case. I found the perfect little boxes that fit my needle felted cupcake cuties perfectly!

They will all get their own little box to live in!

Purple Penguin

I'm having a lot of fun needlefelting! I made this purple penguin the other day and there are a couple of more cuties that i will put up for sale when the day comes that my shop opens. I'm getting closer. Need to do some finishing touches on the shop pages, weigh items and get shipping calculations solved, get packaging stuff and i think i got everything covered then. Then all is left to do is hope there are actual people out there who want to buy my things!
Oh, purple penguin is standing in front of some pieces of mini fabric art that will be listed in the shop too!

Mail sent and mail received

Yesterday was a wonderful mail day. I got some mail sent out and there was some mail received. By me and by people who were waiting to get something from me.
First of all, Suki has been sent on to the first part of her journey!

Then there was the email from Mandy saying that she received my Pay it Forward crafts. I made her two mini (3"x3") fabric art pieces. One with one of my illustrations turned into a felt applique and one with a felt flower on the front. I added two bottlecap magnets with images taken from my vintage postcard collection.
More surprises arrived at new homes. I did a cute and crafty swap with Roxanne and she got the goodies I've sent her. I don't have a picture of all the goodies i put in the box, but do have a picture of what i made for her. I felted this little bear like animal for her. I found this pretty box which made a perfect little home, it fitted like a glove!

Last month i was the very lucky winner of this gorgeous milk glass set from the wonderful blog at happydash! It took awhile for it to arrive here, due to the wonderful service at my local post office (yes, this is sarcastic).
But let's say it was just to build up anticipation and my joy was even greater when it finally did arrive! It is soooo gorgeous i can't even explain. The two cups and plates with their lovely prints and the shape of the plates resemble painters tablets. Oooohhh... loving it, thank you Tonya for spoiling me with these!
And i got even more spoiled when i opened up a surprise package from Jonah of Maluhia Designs. The prettiest and cutest fabric! I really needed to catch my breath for a second. I can't think of any crafty project that is so wonderful that i will be able to really cut in these fabrics. But i'm also aware they are meant for me to use. Maybe one day i'll think of something. Thank you sooo much for this amazing treat!

Tiny apple friend

My new felted tiny friend.
"Body" part is 1,5 inch (3 cm) high.

This time i tried to use a little bit of embroidery to decorate the face and the leaf. Wasn't sure how or if it would work, but you know how i do, just try and see how it turns out.

I think it worked.

Looking forward to making more felted creations. It is a very good craft for me to do at the end of a long day's work when you finally want to give yourself some time off but still cannot sit down and do absolutely nothing.

Felted Friends

So i had my first go at needlefelting. And like i already suspected, i'm loving it!
Feels like as long as you punch the needle up and down enough (like a trillion times), you can make anything you think of.

These little friends i made are tiny. You see the needle in the back. The owl is 4 cm high, that's like 2,5 inch.
I'm already working on some other creations.

Enjoying this craft. Wondering why i didn't do this before.

New found love

Needle felting. It has been on my wanting to learn list for a long time now. And yesterday was my lucky day.

I found out that there is an AC Moore only 10 minutes away by bus! I called them to find out till what time they would be open, and the lady told me they had a 25% off everything in the store sale from 6-9! I was planning to go in the afternoon, but of course waited until after 6. So i stocked up on some items i've been wanting to buy before but never did. Like the needle felting supplies.

Let's see what i will be able to make with this. Got to get my hands on some more wool.
