New Magnetsets

Prepped some more images and turned them into magnets. I really like how the top coating gives them a smooth finish and some protection.

Promo magnets and shop news

Had some magnet making fun preparing this bunch of ismoyo promo magnets.

Have to think about promotion since it is finally looking like i will open up my online shop soon. Yes really. My latest planned date was first week of August, but maybe that will be a little bit later, probably second week of August. Shop is build and a lot of inventory made. Now i'm tweaking the shop here and there and adding all descriptions, getting all the weights in so shipping costs are calculated correctly and more of the boring finishing touches. I wished i had some better lighting to make the product pictures, definitely something on my wishlist. For now my main priority is to open shop, photos do show products well i'm just critical, you know want to have all backgrounds nice and white instead of off white in some. But let me stop boring you, i'll give a big announcement both here and through the newsletter as soon as the shop is open for business! Whoohoo!

Supersized magnets

Remember the smaller vintage image magnets i made? Here are some oversized magnets to adorn the fridge!



They are all like 8"x8.5" some a bit wider, some smaller, some a bit higher, some a bit less. Approximately.
I think these large vintage comic book images would look gorgeous on any fridge!

Adorn the fridge!

I've been working on making magnet sets like these. The magnets are made with images from my vintage comic magazines. The original images were used, yes, cutting in the magazines was very difficult at first. Of course I did make scans for my own archive of all pages/images i used. The magazines are so wonderful and were just waiting to be shared with the world in one way or another.

I've mounted them onto thin flat magnet sheets. And laminated them with see through plastic coating for a smooth finish and extra protection.

Pay it forward #3

I never did show the last Pay it Forward package i had sent out. I made two small fabric mini art pieces and two vintage image bottle cap magnets. They went to Sabine Brandt, just before she went on a trip, so i had to wait with showing it here until she would get back and see them first, then i kinda forgot to post and show off. Better late then never?

Personal printed magnets

With tidying up the house i came across a pack of magnet sheets that i had never used and sort of forgot about.
So with a couple of minutes to spare it was time to try them out.
They are easy to use, just put them in the papertray of the printer and print whatever you want on them. And then you cut out the desired size/shape. I used my cutting board and exacto knife, but i guess you can use normal scissors for this too.

Of course i chose to print an original Ismoyo image for my trial runs. And i printed a vintage image that connects with my Indonesian roots. It's an old advertisement for an Indonesian recipe book. Another personal connection with the image is that is was published by "De Bijenkorf" (beehive) which is a large department store where i, as a young girl had my first official job.
