Crochet against the cold

I found this great photo plus pattern in one of my craft magazines from the seventies. And the Holiday season is a perfect time to play with yarn, so guess what i did? Crochet against the cold!
Halfway, Ukkie stole the project and was jumping up and down, "it fits! it fits! you don't have to go on, it fits!"
I did manage to get it back from ukkie and finish it. In the original picture you see a small brown border, i added that to my version too. But. I hadn't thought about the fact that crocheting one such border, makes the entire hat smaller. And i had to go back and remove the pretty brown stripe, since i couldn't get the hat on comfortably anymore! Haha. My head is too big. This way it fits though. Nice and warm.

I love the vintage photo, it's adorable.
Awesome, I remember I used to have a similar one as a kid, in different colours and made of wool which could be terribly itchy ;)
I even had a nickname for it: 'eierdopje' *LOL* I love yours and I hope it doesn't itch ;)
