Zippered pouch and wristlet
This Saturday we are celebrating Queensday in the Netherlands. This turns the whole country (but especially my city, the capital, Amsterdam) into one big party! But not less important, the country also turns into one large outdoor garage sale, where everybody can sell their old junk on the streets. And I look forward to this day all year 'round! I'll collect all my loose coins and go out treasure hunting. You need to prepare for days like this, the right shoes (heels are sexy, but a big no-no), the perfect bag (large enough to keep all the great finds in, small enough to not get in the way when you stumble upon an unexpected streetparty, with a zipper of course, you don't want to get robbed) and you need a good coin purse so you won't have to take out your entire wallet each time you want to buy something. I'll be especially on the look out for vintage buttons, cute dolls and playthings, retro cans, well I don't really know, I'll just be on the look out for everything that makes me smile!
Anyway, back to the pouches. I had a couple of scraps of black leather look fabric laying around, but I didn't know what to make from it. Then I realized I needed a new coin purse. So I made the one with the two pink flowers on it and the flowery lining inside. But ohoh, I wasn't thinking. I cut the pattern a bit to large (how much coins do I want to carry around?) and I forgot to sew on a strap to turn it into a wristlet. That's why I made the second one. I used bright dotted bias band for the strap and some funky white/pink/green striped lining inside, added some cute ribbon above the flowers and voila: I've got my perfect coin purse for my Queensday treasure hunt!
