Headwraps! (on vintage hairdressing doll)
I'm getting more energy again. It must be the turn in the weather. It's getting nicer outside. Whoohoo!During an attempt at a spring cleaning session I came across this girl on top of one of my closets. I had never forgot I had her but just never thought about her being there. She was part of my childhood, not really my present.
I got her from one of my aunts, it was the practice head for her hairdressing classes. She didn't needed it anymore and I got it to play with. It also came with a wooden handle that you could twist on to every table top so you could work around her hair like a real hairdresser. I used to do her hair and make up. But I also found her to be a bit creepy. It's like... well, just a head with hair. Real hair. Maybe that's why I one day put her on the closet and kinda forgot about her.
So the other day I was cleaning up and rediscovered her. But oh, how terrible she looked!
What was I thinking when I was a kid??
Her hair was done in a zillion small braids, which I now had to take out again. And imagine the ugly curviness that brings to the hair after having been in there for years! So I had to use a lot of delicate no rinse conditioner and straightener to get it a bit decent looking again.
And her face! Ohoh, I had a lot to learn.
Her make up made her look orange with ugly lips and clowny eyes. Luckily, very very carefully I got it all off and her original face and printed makeup were still there.
And I don't know about you, but I think that she looks sweet with the headwraps (or headbands, don't know how I should call them).
Gone are the days of creepy!
(well maybe a little bit still)

I love your headwraps (sounds nice to me) especially the two in bottom. Très jolies!
Hi there, I have just stumbled on your blog and I love it. I want to put your link on my blog if you don't mind.
I also make handbags for fun and I love the messenger bag you made. May I ask where i can get a pattern for one? Thanks :-)
Haha! You're right when you say creepy! It still is actually! If I were a child that head would've freaked me out and I probably would have nightmares every night! ;D
I love the scarves... I've actually had a few occasions when I wanted to wear one on my head exactly like what you did on the model when going out, but in the end did not because I felt too self-conscious about it (thought people would stare since no one wears scarves on their heads like that here). Sigh.
The last two headscarves are lovely. it is trendy to wear them now, so be brave and set a trend :) ...you're right, it is a little creepy!
Merci Beaucoup!
I'm still happy with how they came out. I love wearing scarves, never noticed people giving me weird looks. Or was i just ignoring them?
hehe. ;)
And about the messenger bags 101, i just used an old store bought messenger bag that i had to base my own pattern on. Examining old bags carefully can give you loads of ideas about how to make your own version!
