Vintage Fabric finds
I love the Monday morning fabric market at the Westerstraat and Noordermarkt in Amsterdam! You got to get up early but when you do, you can find some great vintage treasures.I found some retro blankets and/or tablecloths. I have to keep myself from cutting them up and turning them into bags or something, but I decided that I want to keep them as they are.
The one with the green hexagons is 1.30 x 1.18 mtr, the red one 1.15 x 0.98 mtr, the brown flowered one is 1.45 x 1.23 mtr, and the one on the bottom is 2 x 1.13 mtr. (my apologies I'm just too lazy right now to convert these into inches to service everybody..)
And ofcourse the one with the bright flowered border. This one is of vinyl and you won't believe it, I forgot to measure it. And like I said before, I'm lazy right now.. Sorry. hihi. (if somebody is really wants to know, just send me a message. I'll be non-lazy as of tomorrow again.)
Vintage fabrics which i've found on previous Monday morning market rummages, i've used to make some messenger bags that i showed here before.

I'll definitely go to Amsterdam one day, will visit the markets when I go :)
And the great thing is the two markets are attached to each other. Came to the end of the Westermarkt? No worries, there's the Noordermarkt right in front of you! (or the other way around..)
The fabrics are way cool! I'm loving the brown one with flowers. :D
ismoyo :) those messenger bags in your previous post are amazing! i loooove the brown one with the green bunny! like meshell says the shapes are really nice looks like they curve up a bit at the strap,,, these new vintage finds of yours are really cool too... um i think it would be hard to resist using!
I know, it will be hard. But i think i wil just have to resist. Just the other day i went through a box of old pictures at my parents house. And i realized how warm stylish retro our home always was when i was growing up. And even as a small child i already loved that look of it. Told my parents to never ever throw certain items out, but to always save them for when i would be grown up. (they did and i have 2 amazing vintage chairs and 2 large brown pillows too)
Anyways, if, one day, i am blessed to have my own family i would want to share that same warm vibe.
So i have to save the fabrics. (and the furniture pieces!)
Wow, you found great things and I found it so funny that I have the same burda magazine that you took a picture of, just in German. I moved to the States from Germany and also fell in love with Pyrex, it's just sad that in my area there aren't too many thrift stores. Well, good luck for more great treasures to be found in the future! :o)
